How are you going to share your UNCOMMON message with the world?

I’ve said over and over again that the Internet is God’s supernatural highway of communication. Today’s story is a testimony of how God is using the web to open doors to new nations for me.

In January 2008, Jerry Graham referred me to Robert Hartzell, founder of Fountains of Life. While Robert already had a website, he recognized it needed a major upgrade. Robert also wanted to integrate email marketing into his website and to begin a web store. Robert said the main thing that attracted him to me is my gifting to POWER network God’s army.

Robert has done an amazing job growing in his use of the web. It’s incredible how quickly he grasped the concepts and ran with them. After I set Robert up with a blog, he began posting entries using his monthly newsletters from the past 10 years. That moved Fountains of Life into the top 10 with Google for several keyword searches that were important for people to find Robert and his ministry.

While Robert lives in Florida and I have never met him in person, he has turned out to be a tremendous blessing to me, helping me grow in several areas of my life. In addition, he is now connecting me to other prominent Christian leaders. Over time, we have developed a covenant relationship.

On March 4, 2008, I hosted my very first “Uncommon Internet Marketing Seminar.” That was followed up with two more, March 19 and April 1. I have seen fruit almost immediately from each of those.

Before my webinar on April 1, I did minimal advertising. One thing I did do was ask Robert to use his new email marketing system to invite his contacts. One of the people who responded to Robert’s bulk email was Steve Cobb.

Near the end of my webinar, I asked the question, “Who is my target audience?” My answer:
Visionaries – People with God-sized visions
Christian leaders who want to change the world
People with large established networks
Teachable leaders willing to be coached
Leaders seeking covenant relationships

I then presented an UNCOMMON opportunity and shared Bill Gates (Microsoft) quote – “If we don’t act on a good idea within 24 hours, we are less than 50% likely to ever act on it. If we haven’t acted on it inside of days, then we are less than 2% likely to ever act on it.”

Well Steve Cobb didn’t let the opportunity pass by. Within one hour, he sent me a long, well-written email. Here is an excerpt from that:

“I want to thank you for your helpful webinar and Robert Hartzell for inviting me.

I’m the President and National Director of the Institute of Theology by Extension in Guatemala (www.inste.org). At the end of your seminar you described 4 characteristics of people you like to relate with and I identified with all four (depending on how much of a financial investment it would mean). I liked very much the point about life-time clients and I have a few of them, and would like very much to get closer and more personal with them, as well as add new ones.

Helen and I have been missionaries in Latin America for 32 years (Costa Rica 1, Honduras 9, Ecuador 10 and Guatemala 12 years). We’ve given ourselves mainly to leadership training in a formal educational environment. INSTE is professional theological education with an informal modality. We’ve raised up 4 Bible School in 3 nations and trained a lot of wonderful men and women. So we have two sides to out internet communications — the Spanish side and the English side. We probably have close to a 1000 friends in Latin America and under 100 in the States.”

Subsequently, my web team helped Steve upload his marketing video and get a blog going. In the past month Steve has already made 27 posts to his blog. This past Tuesday (May 6), Steve got connected to Jerry Graham and Ben Stewart when he participated in our inaugural Web Mastermind Team meeting. Jerry and Ben both offered to help Steve further. Wow! It’s so beautiful when the Body of Christ functions the way God intends with each “joint supplying.”

Prayer Power
Most gracious and merciful Father, thank You for connecting me to awesome leaders like Jerry Graham, Ben Stewart, Robert Hartzell, and Steve Cobb in the past year. Bless each of them, their families, and their ministries. Thank You for Your promise in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” We bless and honor You Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen and Hallelujah!

When was the last time you shared your life story?
What have been the most significant things that have happened in your life?

People love stories – especially stories of changed lives! That’s why I frequently share stories about how God is working around me and through me. Sharing my failures and struggles as well as my successes help make my stories authentic. Being real allows other people to open up and be authentic themselves. As a coach, it’s important to go first.

A. L. Williams, the billionaire who rescued Liberty University from financial ruin about 15 years ago, says that whenever he met with a prospect the first time, he never, ever, tried to make a sale. Rather, he shared his heart, hoping to capture the other person’s heart.

I’m in week #5 of my Accelerated Coach Training course. During our last group conference call on June 28, Scott Wozniak talked about the value in writing our life story in a one minute version, a three minute version, and a 7-10 minute version. Then depending on the circumstance, we will be prepared to share our story.

Yesterday afternoon I went for a 37 mile bike ride with Julia (my wife), Jane Dodson, and Cathy Lee. During our bike ride, Cathy told me she recently read my life story online. She said she appreciated reading a story that was “real.” Cathy told me sharing my story will change other people’s lives when they identify with the story.

Today is the first day of my second year writing these devotionals. Lots of neat things are on the horizon to bless you. For example, in the next few weeks, I plan to start weekly webinars (online meetings) in partnership with other Christian leaders. The webinars will cover a variety of topics to bless your family, your finances, and your city. I also hope to begin audio and video emails in the near future.

Prayer Power
Heavenly Father, thank You for the Bible, the greatest love story ever written. Thank You that my life story includes receiving Jesus as my LORD and Savior. Thank You for the abundant life I now enjoy with Him. Bless each reader to know You and the power of Your love. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Early in 2006, God gave me two powerful revelations:
1) The Internet is God’s superhighway of communication!
2) A daily prayer email (when done properly) is the number one way to grow your network and build strong relationships.

Let me share a very concrete example. On December 6, I sent the devotional titled “The Spiritual Significance of 400 Years.” The Holy Spirit woke me up at 1:30 AM that morning to download His message. After preparing that devotional, the Holy Spirit sent me to Giles Memorial Hospital in time to replace a different devotional that had previously been scheduled to go out at 5 AM.

Later that same evening (8:10 PM), Ray Boetcher sent me an email reply telling me he enjoyed reading my inspirational messages each day and that he enjoyed my message on the significance of 400 years. I had forgotten that Ray was even on my devotional list.

The first and only time I had met Ray was at the Founder’s Inn in Virginia Beach on August 27-28, 2006 during the Leadership Roundtable, cosponsored by the International Coalition of Workplace Ministries [www.icwm.net] and Regent University [www.regent.edu].

Ray is the owner of a Christian newspaper in the Virginia Beach area and leads the Christian Business Network there. I learned from Ray’s email that he has a lead role with two monumental events in 2007 – The Assembly 2007 [www.theassembly2007.org] in late April 2007 and the Greater Hampton Roads Franklin Graham Festival in May 2007. Until I received Ray’s email I didn’t know anything about those.

Prayer Power
Father, thank You for these daily prayer devotionals and for the hundreds of powerful testimonies and connections that I have received. Thank You for keeping me connected with Ray Boetcher through the devotionals. Thank You for Ray’s deep love for You and for his leadership in the Greater Hampton Roads area. Bless Ray and everything that he stewards. Bless his family, his newspaper, his business network, and the two major upcoming events in 2007. Thank You Jesus. Amen.
